Holy Rosary

Home of the Saint Paul Mission

Holy Rosary is located in Dillingham, Alaska on 20 acres of property that borders the Dillingham Airport. We have a Church building donated in part by Catholic Extension Society and generous parishioners. We also have a two story rectory and a small cemetery located on our land.

The structure of the Archdiocese of Anchorage in the Western part of Alaska is as such:

  • Holy Rosary is a parish in the Archdiocese of Anchorage, 350 air miles West of Anchorage.
  • Holy Rosary Parish is situated near the mouth of two rivers: Wood and Nushagak.
  • Saint Theresa, located 64 air miles East in Naknek, is a mission parish of Holy Rosary.
  • The Saint Paul Mission was started by Holy Rosary Parish in the early 1990's.
  • The areas that encompass the Saint Paul Mission are Bristol Bay and the Aleutian Chain.
  • Saint Peter, 10 air miles south in Clarks Point, is considered part of the Saint Paul Mission.
  • Some 30 other villages surrounding Holy Rosary make up the Saint Paul Mission

No roads connect the villages together. Traveling from Anchorage, to Dillingham, and villages in the Saint Paul Mission, must be accessed by airplanes.
